The Bloomington Branch
The Bloomington branch of WILPF has about 40 active members, and meets the first Monday of each month at 3 p.m. There is no meeting the month of July. The January meeting is the first Monday after the New Year's holiday. Our usual meeting place is the congregation Beth Shalom located at 3750 East 3rd St.
Speakers present new information about subjects of current interest in areas of political, social, economic or environmental concern.
We respond to legislative alerts to encourage elected officials to support or oppose legislation.
We have study groups concerned with issues of globalization, the military-industrial connection and corporate power.
Our branch works cooperatively with other local peace and justice groups. Some of our members participate in the weekly Wednesday peace vigil at the Courthouse.
Each April 15 we distribute leaflets at the U.S. Post Office that tell patrons how our tax money is spent, and how it should be spent.
We explore and publicize key issues by means of book clubs and public film presentations.
Are you on our e-mail list? If not, contact us at bloomingtonwilpf.org to receive our reminders of meetings and action alerts.
